Join us to learn how to lay a hedge for wildlife with the Bollin Valley Partnership.
We will be joining Bollin Valley Partnership ranger Ed to learn how to lay a hedge for nature. Hedgelaying is a craft which has been practised for hundreds of years. Hedgerows define our countryside and provide many environmental services, but are also vitally important for wildlife as a refuge, a source of food, and as corridors along which they can move through the landscape.
We will be meeting at Holehouse Lane Car Park at 10am, the session will run until 3pm.
Please bring your own lunch, and plenty of snacks and water to keep you going.
The session is outdoors so make sure you have waterproofs and sun protection as needed. Bring lunch and your own work gloves if you have them, and please wear suitable outdoor clothing and bring extra layers.
Long trousers and sleeves are crucial! Hedge laying can be a spiky job, so make sure you wear tough outdoor clothing and sturdy work boots. If you have steel toed boots, these are best.
