Balsam Bashing day, invasives control. Clearance of encroaching vegetation on footpath.
A 4-hour session combining the community-led control of invasive species, Himalayan Balsam, plus foraging tuition with an expert!
This workshop is designed to get you as involved as possible - this includes identifying, picking and tasting a range of wild plants that will be found on the day, along with as much Himalayan Balsam removal as you like!
Sessions will be split in half, with 2 hours spent foraging and 2 (or more if you'd like!) hours spent Balsam bashing.

Balsam Bashing morning, invasives control.
Monday 4th July 2022
To kick off Mersey Rivers Week follow our team of intrepid explorers online, on their mission to Walk or Cycle the Mersey in one day!
We have two teams setting out. The walking team will be starting on the 22 mile waymarked trail from Rixton, Warrington, through to Spike Island, Garston Coastal Reserve, before continuing their walk along the Otterspool prom and ending at the iconic Royal Liver Building.
It is a challenge of 30 miles to explore the cities and towns along the wonderful River Mersey and highlighting some of the issues we work on every day as the Mersey Rivers Trust.
The cycle team will be starting their adventure in Manchester, following the start of the Mersey all the way down to meet the walking team at the Royal Liver Building in Liverpool city centre. A distance of around 45 miles.
Join us on social media throughout the day and support us on our adventure and more importantly, see which team is going to win, are you team cycle or team walk?!
If you would like to sponsor our teams, please do so by the donate button on our homepage or follow the details on facebook/twitter.
